So almost every little girl at some point in time has had the dream of walking down the aisle, or any aisle really, to get married to her dreamy prince. In the past a wedding would likely be a giant affair with your family, your town, and potentially the entire county along for the ride. But lately they're becoming a bit more low key. Or at least that's what my bridal magazines tell me!


There are a few of us here that have just recently gotten engaged and a few who have just recently gotten hitched! This thread is for us. It's going to be intended as a place where we can all get together and panic about planning, discuss the ups and downs and ins and outs and positives and negatives of In-Laws and families. Of best Friends and fighting bridesmaids! Of Groomsmen you adore and best men you might not be able to stand. Of catering and flowers and dresses and hair and makeup and suits and presents.

What I really don't want to happen is for the thread to devolve into an argument/discussion about the value of 'marriage' as an institution, or the big pile o'money that the bridal industry is. Most of us know that!


So ladies and gents and everybody in between and around, let's talk about weddings! I'll be sure to edit in some helpful links for resources and things in here when I find some!

This thread is about the legendary Drew Pomeranz.

In 2015 he started 38 games and finished with a record of 36-0 with 500 strikeouts and only 8 walks.

Oddly enough he did have 12 balks...

He would go on to have an illustrious career, winning 527 games and striking out over 7,000 hitters.

People laughed at Raijin Quickfoot for drafting him in 2015 but having him as a keeper led to his record 18 straight league championships.

Let us rejoice in the greatness that is Drew Pomeranz!

No questionable art/stories/shipping/etc. We do not condone any sexualizing of the characters. Yes, we know The Internet does it. The Internet does that with everything. If people want to prejudge here based on there, that's their issue, but this thread is to be devoid of such content.

No linking to full episodes, with the exception of The Hub's website which has an episode or two plus a bunch of clips. The full series (including new episodes as they air) is available on iTunes. Season One is on DVD as well as Season Two, Season Three and Season Four. If you're not in a country where they offer it there, pester them until they do, I guess. Oh yeah, seasons one, two, three and four are now available to stream at Netflix. There is also a pony movie which most people thought was alright. It's on DVD and Blu-Ray if that's your thing. There's even a better sequel to that movie on DVD and Blu-Ray. Both can also be viewed on Netflix.

There is a new show coming this Friday to the Disney Channel!

The show concerns the adventures of twin brother and sister Dipper and Mabel Pines, whose summer plans are ruined when their parents ship them off to their Great Uncle Stan in Gravity Falls, Oregon. Uncle Stan lives in and runs The Mystery Shack, a tourist trap which overcharges unlucky visitors for a glimpse at the world's most bizarre museum, but little do Dipper and Mabel know that there really is something very strange going on and they must rely on one another to find their way in this unfamiliar town.

The show was created by Alex Hirsch, who based it on his real-life experiences in Oregon as a kid. It's gotten good reviews so far, and I'm eagerly awaiting the places it might go. The show is packed with codes and secret symbols, with the promise of an overarching plot layered into the standalone episodes.

The first episode is free to download on iTunes, so check it out!

Well, lets start at the beginning and find out where it is. Here is what it looks like!

We have the mighty Mississippi going through most of the state. I say most because the headwaters are here, meaning the river starts here.



Barely a trickle there, but only a bit down stream it really picks up into being the mighty river it is elsewhere. Without us, there would be no river!

Lots of folks around here care about being healthy! We don't all aim to be super swole, and some of us (coughmecough) can't seem to overcome our terror of the weight training part of the gym. But there are lots of other ways to stay fit, get fitter, happier, more productive, regular exercise, etc etc. Maybe you're more into yoga and spend all your days hoping for the flexibility and strength to finally pull off scorpion pose...



Maybe you are focusing more on cutting calories these days, using apps and websites like My Fitness Pal or Fitocracy or Weight Watchers. Or just by old school dieting! (Do people still do that?)

Maybe you're one of those mentally ill folks who just likes to run.



Maybe you like to run a lot.

Let us discuss our goals for summer fitness and weight loss, or just talk about all the ways we are working toward being healthier and happier through EXERCISE and FOODS. Let's share advice and support! Cooperation makes it happen. Sesame Street told me so.

I, for one, have been running on a broken toe for a while now and things seem fine except I woke up this morning with excruciating and inexplicable back and shoulder pain! HAHAHH getting old is the literal worst thing. In other news next week I'm looking at taking a 9 mile kayak/canoe trip.

So hey I figured I could make a thread to talk about renting and looking for an apartment and flatmates and rundown townhouses in the inner city seeing as how that is going to be a thing I will be dealing with presently.

Has anyone got any cool stories or sage advice about renting or finding a place to rent?

Dragonball Xenoverse is a video game for PC, PS4, XBOne, PS3, and Xbox 360. It's a lot like the Budokai Tenkaichi series of DB games, which means:

• Over-the-shoulder perspective
• Chain combos
• An ungodly character selection
• Some sort of retelling of the DBZ Saga

HOWEVER, two things make Xenoverse unique:

First, the ability to make custom characters and fill them out with whatever moveset you see fit, subject to earning those abilities in-game. The possibilities are limitless! Make a Saiyan(M/F)! Who loves WEED

Or make a Majin(M/F)! In the fiction, Majin Buu has been cloned so many times over the years that a diluted, non-evil race of similar puttymen exists. Mine is 2cool4u. Male Majins look like basic Buu, while female Majins look more like Perfect Buu.



Other races include Earthling(M/F), Namek and Frieza-Race

The OTHER noteworthy factor is that even though you are playing out the aforementioned famous battles, you are doing so from the perspective of a Trunks-led force of TIME COPS who operate out of a city on Shenron's back. This may be a turnoff for some people, but you can also access one-and-done "parallel quests" where you can more accurately relive battles by selecting actual DBZ characters.

Other modes include the bogstandard VS and open-world treasure hunts you use your Scouter/Energy Sense to complete.

Currently I'm playing on PC, but I might get the PS3 version soon to play with RL friends. You can add me up on Steam as #COOLTEENS. Post your platform, your relevant username, and show off your custom characters! Above all else, though, ROCK THE DRAGON.

Guys, there are a lot of really amazing things in the world! And there are also a lot of people out there exploring those amazing things and learning about them! Sometimes when they learn something new, they talk about it, and share it with laypeople so that they can also be excited and amazed.

HEY KIDS, YOU LIKE DINOSAURS?

Well PALEONTOLOGY is a science, for sure! Paleontology is the study of goddamn extinct animals and shit using their fossils. If you're studying the dodo, you're probably not a paleontologist, though, because it only counts if your fossils are pre-Holocene. That means before people. Among other things. Look, if you're a people, paleontologists don't give a fuck about you.

They're too busy discovering the biggest dinosaur ever. His name is Dreadnaughtus and, given that he weighed more than seven T-Rexes, this guy would ruin your day if you pissed him off.



Paleo means "old as balls" in Greek, and if you're not into old as balls animals, you're not a paleontologist. You might be a paleobotanist, like Ellie Sattler, or a paleoecologist, or a paleoclimatologist even! You can be paleo-a lot of stuff.


"Dinosaurs are boring, they move too quickly. I want a science that talks about time on an even larger scale."

Like.. the GEOLOGIC time scale? We can work with that. Geology is the study of the Earth, its components, and what makes them change. Also, how they change. Geologists can be found doing all sorts of really amazing stuff, so if you think geology is dumb then I counter with NO YOU'RE DUMB. Look at all these sciences that fall under the mantle (IT'S A PUN) of geology:

Volcanology is the study of volcanoes, which are portals to hell, probably, or kind of like giant zits on the Earth's face. Volcanoes form where plates of the earth's crust are either being pulled apart (divergent tectonic plates) or pushed together (convergent tectonic plates). They can also form at weak spots in the earth's crust, or when diapirs of magma push up from under the crust. You can think of a diapir as one liquidy-smushy-moving material is able to force its way through a brittle-y, breaky other material. Protip: magma is liquid rock found underground; once it comes up and out it stops being magma and starts being lava.

But wait! The definition above is a bit misleading because you can also study solid "earth" that isn't actually on Earth. Like, say, the geology of other bodies in space. You into that? You should be, because it's rad as fuck. The people who realized this early on and studied it extensively are called exogeologists, or planetary geologists, or just Really Cool Dudes.

There's also Mineralogy, which is the study of the crystal structure, makeup, and general properties (like refraction) of minerals. If you like maths and things that are beautiful and also chemistry and also SECRET SURPRISES, mineralogy is a thing to consider studying. People think it's boring but people are wrong.



That is a picture of a mineral called chalcanthite, which forms in dry climates on late-oxidization-stage copper deposits. SUPER GORGEOUS, right? here's the SECRET SURPRISE: It's water soluble, and if you lick it, it MIGHT KILL YOU. That's right, it's poisonous!



This silky hair stuff is a beautiful mineral, too! It's called tremolite, and in its silky fibrous form, it is recognized as a kind of asbestos. Just a reminder: asbestos causes oodles of cancer and a chronic inflammatory condition called asbestosis, because you get it from, y'know, asbestos.

Okay I guess I gotta stop talking about rocks. There are other natural sciences, though. Wicked cool sciences like BIOLOGY, which is the study of living things! Just like the other types we've discussed, there are a million subdisciplines in biology! Molecular biology, ecology, neuroscience...

Then there's CHEMISTRY, PHYSICS, ASTRONOMY, SOCIOLOGY... BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING...

Look, okay there's a lot of scientific ground to cover and that's not really why I wanted to make this thread. I wanted to make this because I bet there are other people out there who do a lot of science reading in their day-to-day, and often see things and think, "THAT'S AMAZING!" Well, I want you to share with me your AMAZING SCIENCE THINGS that you find! We can talk about how totally incredible all the stuff around us is. (It's pretty incredible.)

Ok, there have been a few threads recently that flirted with this concept, but I would like to offer a safe haven for those who have Chronic Health Problems. Not Mental Health issues or Hypochondriacs or those who 'get sick' and proceed to 'get better,' I am talking about those of us with physical conditions that we live with and try to 'placate' in the long term.

Because for us there is no real 'cure' or 'getting better,' there is 'remission' and 'flare-up.' If we feel depression, it's not due to brain chemicals being goof, it's due to the crippling physical pain that saps strength. We are those that go to the hospital and know more than the doctors do unless they are specialists at the top of their game. We have been around the block and know when a doc is lying to make you feel better, rushing to get you out the door so he can deal with an easier patient, and when a doc is actually taking his time because he gives a shit about what happens to your ass.

So let's share stories and updates on these lifelong conditions of ours. I've got a few stories, but I'll start with a brief description of my condition and an update on where I stand.

Munkus Problems:
Crohn's with the complication of a Colectomy (I had my colon surgically removed because they were sure I had colitis, they are wrong in these scenarios about 10% of the time apparently).
Dealing with Crohn's since I was 13, so about 13 years of Crohn's or about half my entire life. Crohn's also causes/is related to my other issues (anemia, arthritis, psriosis, chronic epdidymitis, fistulas)

My update is that I have a slowing fistulazing tract causing enormous pain which is too close to operate at the places I've been but close enough to cause FUCK FUCK pain. Doctors think I am lying or seeking drugs, I put on a strong face for my best friend but this most recent visit colapsed and I am now hoping I get to go to the hospital because holy fuck it hurts. I just want an end to this endless parade of suffering and misery. I have few things, books or games, to keep my mind off. When I try to play the games I want to play, the pain sucks the fun out of it. So I don't know, I am at wits end and am trying to lose it. I haven't been around much here due to pain. I haven't kept up my social life due to real pain.

tl;dr - My update is that my Crohn's is winning the battle and the war against my body.
